Why it can be hard to find the right help abroad
Living away from home brings its own load: visa and job pressure, long hours, loneliness, the strain of fitting in, and constant worry about ageing parents in India. Local services may be expensive or have long waits, and it can be hard to explain family expectations or a joint-family situation to someone who has never lived it. Many people also carry a sense, learned at home, that asking for help is a weakness. It is not.
What you can do online from anywhere
- Take the Stressometer online; outside India it costs USD 8.99 per assessment
- Use the Emotional Wellness Index report to see where the strain is and which kind of help suits you
- Talk to a psychologist online in English or Hindi, where the rules in your country allow it
- Ask about session times that work across your time zone
Psychiatry and medicine abroad
Psychiatric prescribing follows the law of the country you live in. A prescription written in India is generally not something a pharmacy abroad can fill, and NWNT does not prescribe outside India. If your report suggests clinical evaluation, see a locally licensed psychiatrist or your family doctor, and take the report with you so they have a starting point.
When you are visiting India, you can book an in-person consultation in New Delhi through Dr. Vohra's Emotional Wellness Hub. Ongoing treatment after you return still needs a local doctor.
Support for parents and family in India
Often the worry is about someone back home: a parent who has become withdrawn, a sibling under exam pressure. Family members in India can be seen online or in person through Dr. Vohra's Emotional Wellness Hub, in Hindi or English, and you can help arrange it from abroad. Delhi NCR families can visit East Patel Nagar, close to the Patel Nagar metro station on the Blue Line.
For employers and universities abroad
The Stressometer is used by enterprises in the USA and India and by educational institutions. For organisations outside India, NWNT helps set up local psychology and psychiatry services in their geography: onboarding, matching with locally licensed practitioners, and ongoing management, alongside screening for staff or students.
In an emergency abroad
Call your local emergency number at once: 911 in the USA and Canada, 999 or 112 in the UK, 112 across most of Europe, 000 in Australia. Tele-MANAS (14416) and 112 are for people in India, which can help when you are calling about a family member there. NWNT is not an emergency service.
