Why online care matters across India
Psychiatrists and psychologists in India are concentrated in large cities. In much of the country the nearest one is hours away, and in a small town the fear of being recognised at a clinic keeps people from going at all. NWNT was among the first private-sector providers of mental health care by telemedicine in India, starting in 2011, for exactly these reasons.
How it works, step by step
Consultation fees are not listed here. The team shares them when you enquire, before anything is booked.
- Take the screening online. Adults use the adult version; students aged 13 and up use the student version.
- Read your Emotional Wellness Index report, which explains where you stand and what it suggests.
- If it recommends more, NWNT connects you with a psychologist, a psychiatrist, or both at the hub.
- Sessions run by video, voice or chat at a time agreed with you.
- Progress is reviewed along the way, and the plan changes if it is not helping.
Can an online psychiatrist prescribe medicine?
Yes, within the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines that govern online medical care in India. A registered psychiatrist can assess you by video, make a diagnosis and send an e-prescription that pharmacies accept. Some medicines can only be started after you have been seen in person, and the psychiatrist will tell you if that applies.
Online psychologist sessions
Therapy by video works well for most adults. You need a private space, headphones and a steady connection. Sessions cover CBT and other talk therapies for stress, anxiety, low mood, anger, relationship difficulties and sleep problems. Voice and chat options help when video is not practical.
When to plan a visit to Delhi
Some situations are better handled in the same room: a complicated diagnosis, certain medicines, or a family that needs to sit together with a clinician. The hub is at 29/24, East Patel Nagar, New Delhi 110008, a short walk from Patel Nagar metro station and reachable from New Delhi railway station on the Yellow Line with a change to the Blue Line at Rajiv Chowk.
Frequently asked questions
- Is online care suitable in an emergency?
- No. Online sessions are booked appointments, not an emergency service. If you or someone near you is in danger, call 112, or Tele-MANAS on 14416 for free round the clock mental health support.
- Which languages are sessions in?
- English and Hindi. Tell the team your preference when you book.
- Is the screening a diagnosis?
- No. It is a clinically validated screening that shows where you stand and suggests the right next step. Only a psychiatrist or psychologist can assess and diagnose.
